A friend from China

We're just about to leave for the airport to pick up Xiaoli, a friend of ours from China. She's a professor at Xiamen University, where I taught in 2007. She's doing a post-doc year at NYU, and when I learned she'd be in the States, I arranged for her to teach a short course in Chinese Business Law at our law school. So next week I teach an intensive Adoption Law class, and she teaches Chinese Business Law.

The girls are excited that she's coming, though they wish she was bringing Si Bo, her son who is a few years older than Zoe. They had great fun playing together when we were in China. You can read some more about them and see pictures by clicking here and here.

We've been cleaning non-stop for several days now, since things got a little out of hand over the holidays. And we wanted to make a good impression on our guest, of course -- especially since Xiaoli is Zoe's future mother-in-law (Zoe still says that she'll be marrying Si Bo when they grow up!)

Time to go!

What a wonderful opportunity to re-connect with an old friend! As for all the cleaning, just think how prepared you'll be for Lunar New Year. ;-)

Have a great time! Tell Zoe not to be too nervous in front of her future MIL!

I just went back and read "Dinner with Si-Bo's family." I didn't get all your older entries in the past and regret that.
Anyway, I noted you had over 29,000 entries?! WOW!

You know, I ended the Xiamen Adventure blog after we came back to the States because I didn't think I'd have anything to say about our boring life here! But I was sorry not to be communicating with my loyal readers.

Well, it seems like I have something to say, after all! I did 209 posts to Xiamen Adventure, and to date, 238 posts here! And It's great to have some of the same readers here, too!
