First Communion

Another proud mama moment --and a milestone for Zoe -- First Communion today! We're all worn out, so I'm just throwing up some pictures so that friends and relatives can see.
Zoe and Maya before Mass began; when we walked into the church, proud sister Maya said (without seeing another soul!), "Zoe, you're the most beautiful one here today!"

Zoe lights a candle after mass -- included in her prayers is that your arm will feel better soon, Sister Bern!
Zoe loved her dress, all ribbon and pearls. She initially balked at a veil, wanting to wear just the wreath in her hair, and I was all for that. But I also thought she might change her mind (what 8-year-old doesn't want to do the whole bride thing?!) so I bought one just in case. Sure enough, yesterday after talking to her friends she succumbed to peer pressure and wanted the veil.
That's Zoe in the cape her Mimi made her, and thank goodness she did! We had very unusal Texas temps of 22 degrees this morning!

A surprise -- Father Luke is the priest who baptised Zoe 7 years ago! He was not the presiding priest, but he was at the church to prepare for 12:30 Mass, and Zoe was delighted to get a picture with him. She loves then-and-now connections to her as a baby.
