On the Road

Spring Break, and we're heading to Washington, D.C.!  Made it as far as Bristol, Virginia today, and only have 6-7 hours yet to go.  We left after school on Friday, and got as far as Little Rock before I decided to bag it.

The girls are such great travelers.  We spent most of the day just getting across Tennessee, and Maya kept waxing poetic about the scenery.  My favorite quote from her:  "I love nature!  Nature is just so big!" The lovely scenery stimulated much patriotism from the girls, and they serenaded us with the Star Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful, etc.  And of course, when we passed the sign for his birthplace, a rousing rendition of Davy Crockett!

We're excited to have my sister and brother-in-law join us in D.C. -- they're driving from Vermont. We plan to spend the week as tourists enjoying all that D.C. has to offer, and then, oh joy!, enjoying the 22-hour drive back home!

I'm anxious to hear what you find your girls enjoy in DC as I'm thinking of heading that way for our Spring Break in a couple of weeks. I have two high school aged boys and know they'll find the trip interesting, but am worried about my 5 and 6 year old daughters -- will there be things there that interest them?
