School pictures -- what can I say? Zoe looks lovely. Yep, that's a black eye on Maya (She poked herself near the eye with a pencil while doing homework. I didn't see it happen, and she really can't quite account for it. She said she was writing, I said, "What?! On your FACE?!" FYI, I think lovely-looking Zoe had something to do with it -- she was "helping" Maya with her homework, and how much you want to bet there was a struggle over that $#@! sharp pencel?!). Maya had the black eye when she went to school. The headband, however, didn't quite look that way! It wasn't backwards, for one thing, with the bow flush against her forehead on the INSIDE of the band! The band was UNDER her hair. The bow was demurely TILTED to the side opposite the black eye, to draw attention from the black eye, not sqare in the middle of her forehead. And it was pushed just a WEE little bit further back on her head!
When I opened Maya's envelope to see the picture, my first reaction was, "When's picture make-up day?!" But now I think I'll just have to keep them; they're just so Maya, fake smile, black eye, wonky headband and all!

I agree. They're classic and a definite keeper.
Since when are school pictures "good"--they always show the quirkiness and the bad hairdo's the photography assistant makes as she "fixes" your hair prior to the shot!

Side note- I don't know if I can do that book review Malinda...holy smokes. You were right. It really did go on a downhill slide and I was blown away! What disturbs me most are the fab reviews of it on Amazon. Makes me realize what a different world I am living in...

Love 'em... especially Maya's, since her personality just screams out at you when you look at it.
Maya's picture makes me laugh...it is SO Maya! Zoe, of course is looking down, as usual. I have so many pictures of Zoes top of head.
I love my girls so much. they are the light of my life.
Ahhh, makes me nostalgic for all those "interesting" school pics I took when I was a kid. Love them both. Seriously. No way you need any retakes.
