Paralympic Games a Boon for China's Disabled
Don't forget that the Paralympic Games have started in Beijing. Everyone is hoping that having this event in China will help to change Chinese attitudes toward the disabled.
I hope so too. I have heard and seen some evidence that in the major cities things are slowly changing--there is still no real opportunity for the disabled unless they are blind or deaf as their are special schools and a different culture tradition in treating people with those issues, but alas in the countryside things remain. Even if it changes one in a one thousand the difference will be better than none and with time things will change even further.
