Certainly the one child policy is less rigid now, but it obviously plays a motivating role in sex-selective abortion and abandonments.

The mass exportation of female babies -- international adoption -- is really a small number in the grand scheme of things in China with its population of 1.3 billion. Assume 500 million are female, the loss of less than 150,000 to international adoption realy can't skew the sex ratios.malindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06233439015219192874noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-316191265933534655.post-53076662774981872792010-03-31T19:56:59.396-05:002010-03-31T19:56:59.396-05:00Very interesting abstract. Unfortunately the law is not something everyone will follow and/or will be able to.Jeff and Madelinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07330454830153579449noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-316191265933534655.post-62487670390467895672010-03-31T19:18:03.626-05:002010-03-31T19:18:03.626-05:00Sorry? I was obviously under the mistaken impression that infanticide and the mass exportation of female babies had something to do with gender imbalance.Vonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17421069895155350144noreply@blogger.com
